Developers are using HTML increasingly for both mobile apps and, believe it or not, for desktop apps … especially for emerging platforms like Chrome, and sure-to-be-huge platforms like Windows 8.
But some still feel the technology is over-hyped.
So Kendo UI — which makes an HTML5-based mobile development toolkit — surveyed 5,000 developers to see what they’re doing with the technology.

It turns out that 70 percent of North American developers are already using HTML5, as are roughly 60 percent of South American, European, and Chinese developers. And they’re using them to build productivity tools, utilities, and more.
